MOBILE PHOTOGRAPHY.
What is mobile photography?
Most people's answers would probably be the same. We all understand photography as an art, science and practice -- where an image is recorded and turned into a photograph (or a 'light painting,' if you want to get all technical with the literal Greek translation of it). A single moment in time becomes captured as a digital file (or even on film, for all of you old school folks).

Richard “Koci” Hernandez is a national Emmy® award-winning video and multimedia producer. He is a visual storyteller and one of the world’s leading iPhoneographers who worked as a photographer at the San Jose Mercury News for 15 years. In 2007 after taking his first mobile photograph, he was hooked on the medium’s potential and immediacy, “not only is it the camera in my hand, but it’s the printing press in my pocket and more importantly, with the rise of social networks like Instagram, it’s become my satellite dish in order to instantly transmit, globally. I can share my vision at the touch of a button and receive instant feedback”.

I chose this artist because I was drawn to the striking Black and White photos that he had taken. He seems to have captured an "eerie silence" in the photos. The black shadowy figure of a man in the hat, gives his theme a scary, disturbing image but yet, creating a softness with the use of grey/white.
I love this image as the simplicity works very well. What I like about this particular artist work is the fact that every piece of his work has been taken in black and white. The two men sat down on a bench is the power spot as your eyes are drawn to them instantly. To me, this photo tells a story of soldiers going away to fight and they are sat looking at their city, looking at it as if it could be the last time for a very long time that they will enjoy the "peace and tranquility". This image may have had a F stop of around f/5.6 to let in just the right amount of light.
This photo is not one of my favorites because I don't like to see just the image of the hat but I wanted to use it anyway as its the work of this particular photographer that I have chosen. The power spot is the man in the front of the photo with a hat on. The soft tones used gives the impression of a quiet bar with very little atmosphere.
Chris Ambrose
The information below is taken from Chris's own website
Hi, my name is Chris Ambrose, the founder and owner of my photography business. I have been a keen photographer since my childhood days in the 1970’s when my parents first purchased a single lens reflex (SLR) film camera.
As part of our GCSE Photography, the class had to research a photographer who took photos of architecture. After much research, I found a very interesting website on the above photographer. Chris Ambrose takes photos of architecture around Manchester that was why I decided to base my work on for this particular subject on the work of Chris Ambrose.
I was lucky enough to actually speak to Chris. I explained that I was a year 11 student who is studying a GCSE in Photography. I explained that I found his work inspiring and the fact that he had used colour as well as black and white in his photos. Chris explained to me where some of his favourite photos had been taken in Manchester and that one of the was opened by the Queen last year.

When I spoke with Chris on the phone, he said that the image on the left was one of his favorites. He explained that in order to get this photo looking so blue, he had to wait for the right angle of the sun, the right time of day and the reflections just right on the buildings. This is the art of photography, I true professional will make the photo look easy and that they have just been out and about and take a photo but in reality, this took many shots to get the shade of blue he wanted without using Photoshop.
This photo was taken in black and white to enhance the mood of the day, plus the time of the day. This photo was taken at Salford Quays in Manchester and was taken below the foot bridge, looking up from a worms eye view.
I like both of these photos as they are very different from each other, showing a clever use of colour and angles.

Our teacher asked the group to take a selection of photos using the theme "Emotions". We had to take different photos of subjects around our school other than people.
The photos below have been taken with this theme in mind, but another challenge was to use three different apps to change to the colour, layout and appearance of the photo.
I have tried to create different emotions using varied shots and different apps.
What is ipad app Reviews ?
Ipad app reviews is to edit a picture and to do different effects also some Ipad apps are free to download but is easy to use
ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF MOBILE PHOTOGRAPHY
Paparazzi can use mobile photography in a negative light, where they take numerous photographs and choose one which may twist the story. By using a before and after picture it may change the whole view of that particular photograph. But, mobile photograph is good as nearly everybody owns a mobile or some sort of camera source so they can capture a important event. This can get the photograph popular all around the world within a second, which is good if it is for something positive or worth while. For example if I Phone does not have an 'excellent' camera like an SLR, people can download hundreds of apps onto their phone to edit the photograph to look like a high standard.

Some of the Different App I use :
Pic collage has a variety of features for eg; you can arrange your photos into a frame, cut outs, filters, borders, stickers, story board and text.you could have multiple photos to make a story board.
The strength of the app would be that the effects are very easy to use and understand. It is just like Photoshop as well there is a tutorial to make you understand.
Furthermore, the only weakness with the app is where it comes to saving and sharing pictures it seems to take a while which you wouldn't expect for the app to take that long. Worms eye view photo would be really successful for this app seeing as you can frame as well. You would use these effect for framing multiple photos at once , as well as having borders for perfecting the picture.
In my view this app is really helpful and one of the best app for background editing, i would definitely put this app in my top 4 seeing as i take worms eye view pictures frequently

Insta editor has a range of unique features which other apps don't have, this app includes focus , sharpness, adjust, frames and orientation.
Furthermore, the strengths of the app would be it is very easy to use and it is simple to edit.
However, the weakness of the app would be it takes a long time to save pictures or share so the app needs to be more fast.
This app would be useful for adjusting the brightness or changing the depth of field in a photo.

Insta collage: This app includes features such as making frames and collages.
Strengths would be it has a variety of ranges for themes and frames for your collages.
weakness of the app :
It has limited effects of features.
what type of photography would this app be useful for ?
Showing motion would be really sucessful in this app or stopping motion or showing story boards as well .
How would i use these effects?
You would use multiple photos in one picture for the story board and use multiple effects for it.
In my view i think this app is one of the best apps you can use for collages or adding story boards and framing pictures. I would only use this app for those effects and nothing else this app is is decent. Also easy to use i would only recommend this app for majority of the people who make collages.

Pe_fotolr has a variety of effects such as this app allows my photo to be changed by a colour high light type.
The downside of this app would be that the app has limits for how many effects there are, Most of the features only allow you to only apply colour to the photos.
Furthermore, the strengths would be that this app allows you to add hair styles and hair colours which would create humor in the photo.
This app would be useful for cartoon photographs since it has a variety of unique effects.
More over, i would only use this app to use effects which would make a persons face look funny. In my view i this app fairly decent it lacks a few features which other apps have, i would only advise this app to the people who edits faces in the photo.

As a task, we were told to go out and take some photographs that resemble emotions. We were told that we had to find objects around the school that could relate to a certain emotion (e.g anger, peace, happiness), without using people. Though we could have ONLY ONE photo that we took with a person in it. Here i will show a few of the photographs that I took and also edited. In class we had to do some emotion photo with our ipad and if you see photo below I took in school emotion example like : Sad ,Evil, Enjoying , Love ,working ,Safety ,Lonely ,Upset ,Happy,Dead ,Excitement,Mess,Busy ,grumpy and more .
Some Photos that I have Editied
My Best Photo
I used the App Pic Collage to make this. I like Pic Collage because you can move all the photos around to where ever you want them. You can play with the photos and create a really interesting mood board with different emotions. I was trying to create mixed emotions with these photos.
My Worst Photo
I do not like this photo as I tried different photos using Pic Collage and kept all the photos square and the same size. I think it looks boring and makes the photos looks dull. also, you can not really see any of the emotions that I was trying to create. The emotion that I was trying to create was loneliness.
My Best Photo
For this photo I used Insta editor. The emotion that I was trying to create was emptiness. I really like the effect of this App. I like the tone, the colour and the way that the edges are darker than the rest of the photo. I think this App really brings out the emotion that I was trying to create.
My Worst Photo
The emotion that I was trying to create is "dead". I used Insta editor for the effect. I played around with this photo and the colours, finally finishing on black and white but the photo still did not turn out. I even used different camera angles to the top of the photo on the left is on a tilt and it has been taken through a window but the overall finished photo is a little disappointing.
My Best Photo
Insta collage was the App that I used for this photo. The emotion that I wanted to create was mixed emotions. I am very happy with all the photos that I took for this photo. I like the App and the different colours and effect for each photo.
My Worst Photo
The emotion I wanted to create for this photo was "Dead and emptiness". Insta collage was the App that I was. I used a dead plant as I thought that the photo would turn out better than it did. the school field for empty has not turned out the way I planned either and I think that the change of the colour has not helped this photo at all.
My Best Photo
I really like this photo. This photo is showing the emotion "grumpy". I used Pe_fotolr App and the photo has come out much clearer than I expected. I played around with the colour and tone. I didn't want just black and white, i wanted an even tone, and overall, I am very pleased with the photo and the App.
My Worst Photo
This photo is suppose to resemble "messy emotion" but it has not turned out the way I expected it too. I wanted to use a different colour tone. I used Pe_fotolr app to try and get a different effect but it did not work out.
My Best Photo
This is my favorite photo showing the emotion of "love". I chose this photo as the two apples placed side by side represents love. They way that the stalks are leaning into each other, looking out over the playground. It's as if they are talking, almost whispering to each other and feeling close as just their sides touch. I had to play around with the apples to get the correct contrast and shadows. I wanted some people in the background, but not too many. I took this photo from different angles on the table in the school dining room but this photo I feel, has the correct light. Using the rule of thirds, I was able to place the apples in the frame, a fraction out of the middle to enhance the window frame with just enough of the outside showing.
My Worst Photo
This photo is my least favorite of all. I was trying to take a picture of "dead" using the dried up dead plant, but instead, this photo looks like I have randomly taken a photo of a messy book shelf. I took this photo a few times to try to get the correct emotion that I wanted to create, but I did not manage to create it.
SOME OF MY EMOTIONS
The above slide show show's a range of different emotions, these are Sadness, death, evil, emptiness, lifeless, silly, love, closeness, work, angry and excitement.
MY PLAN FOR MY PROJECT
- Download different Apps
- Take photos of school corridors and garden
- Photos from Birdseye point of view
- Photos from Worms-eye point of view
- Close-ups
- Change from colour to Black and White
- Photo of flowers/planter
- Photos of food from Dining Room
- Photos of gates
- Photos of fences
MY FIRST TAKE PHOTO
These photos are my first take photos. Some are blurry and did not turn out as I expected due to light, focus and camera angle. The power spot are the two plates at the front of the photo. the photo to the left of the atrium is meant to be on an angle. I tried to take the photo on a different angle to see what it would turn out like. I dont think the photo is quite in focus and its not turned out as I wanted it to.
As you can see from the photos below, I walked round my school and took some random photos of different objects, these are: Atrium, a gate and a rubbish bin from the dining room.

All these photos were taken using my ipad. You will notice that I have not changed the colour to Black and White yet. I wanted to build my confidence up first and experiment with different camera shoots and angles. I have tried to get the power spot in all of these photos in the middle of the photo. Example: the rubbish in the bin, the scaffolding and the handle on the gate.
I have not yet used any Apps to change the colour yet. As these are my first take photos, I just wanted to get photos of different objects around the school.

MY SECOND TAKE PHOTO
These "second" take photos are clearer but I still don't class them as my "best". I took them in the same style as the photographer Richard “Koci” Hernandez. I did not use zoom on the photo above so you could be confused with what I am taking the photo of. the power spot in these two photos is the fence. Although the above photo is blurred, I like the "old fashioned effect" of the photo.
I like some of the photos below. I took these using a "worms eye view" and a "distance shot". I think the contrast of these shots makes the photos a little more interesting to the viewer.

MY BEST TAKE PHOTO
I especially like the photo above as I managed to take the photo with the bushes coming out on an angle with the railing at the bottom of the photo. This photo turned out exactly how I wanted it to.
The photos are taken from different angles to make them more appealing to the viewer. I have found that just going out and about and taking random photos of objects makes the picture a little more interesting as you are asking yourself "why has Mariyam taken this particular photo"?

To achieve the Black and White effect. I changed the setting on my ipad from colour to Black and White. I then saved the photos and cropped the gallery
MY FINAL PIECE
I have related my final piece to the work of the photographer - Richard “Koci as the majority of his work in Black and White. I tried to create the same feelings as he has in his work, silence and stillness.
I am very pleased with the way that this photo turned out. I like the way the building looks small in the background as the frame is in the for front of the photo. I edited this photo from colour to black and white.
I took this shot with my ipad and I played around with the photo and tried many different angles and and different shots to get the "picture perfect".
I wanted the reflection on the ball of the circular frame but then the rest of the photo not looking so bright. I feel that I have actually achieved this.
